BIOGRAPHY
Ichikawa Yukino (Electronic Organist)
She began performing in Yamaha-sponsored concerts at the age of five. In 1999, she performed her own composition Mai for Tsugaru shamisen and Electone before former Philippine President Corazon Aquino. Using a motif improvised by President Aquino on the spot, she gave an improvised performance, which was highly acclaimed.
She has received numerous awards in competitions and won First Prize at the Yamaha Electone Competition 2009, Category B (Classical-style performance category)—an international competition with entries from around the world.
In 2010, she released her Electone solo album For Colors.
She has been invited to perform at and participate in music festivals and masterclasses both in Japan and abroad, including the Uijeongbu International Music Festival (South Korea, 2012), the PyeongChang Music Festival (2016), the Zhuhai Contemporary Music Masterclass (China, 2018), the Beijing International Organ Festival (Central Conservatory of Music, 2019), and events organized by APEKA (Asian Pacific Electronic Keyboard Association).
Exploring the future possibilities of the electronic organ from multiple perspectives, she has continuously presented recitals since 2014, focusing on premieres of commissioned works by contemporary composers as well as revivals of historical Electone repertoire. Drawing on her broad musical background across multiple genres, she remains actively engaged in performance and artistic projects.
She graduated at the top of her class from the Composition Department of Toho College of Music. She currently serves as a part-time lecturer at Toho Music School and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, and as a performance research fellow at Toho Music School.
